Mixed reality :

Learn to work safely on EVs with Mixed Reality

Within our KA2 Erasmus+ project, we use Mixed Reality (Altoura Frontline) to help students and teachers learn to work on electric vehicles in an innovative and safe way. One of the most important applications within the project is the steps of de-energizing an EV car, a procedure in which safety, accuracy and repetition are essential.

Because working on high-voltage systems involves risks, in some situations certain actions may not be performed by students on real vehicles. It is also possible to train this in Mixed Reality. For this we use software from DiagnoseCar from Flanders, in which a Nissan Leaf is switched off voltage in a safe and realistic way via a HoloLens or iPad.

With the help of Altoura Frontline, students can follow step-by-step procedures in an interactive 3D environment. As a result, they practice complex safety procedures without risk of damage or injury. Students not only develop technical knowledge, but also build routine and confidence before working on real vehicles.

During the TPM (Transnational Project Meeting) in the Netherlands, the participating teachers will develop their own procedures within Altoura Frontline. Thanks to the no-code environment, teachers can easily build their own training scenarios that are in line with educational practice and the latest developments in e-mobility.

The software can be deployed on an iPad and on the Microsoft HoloLens, enabling both mobile and fully immersive learning experiences. In addition, Altoura continues to actively seek support for new Mixed Reality hardware, so that the technology remains future-proof and can be widely used in education and training.

With this approach, we combine innovation, safety and practice-oriented education to optimally prepare students for the rapidly changing world of electric mobility.
